To Place and Link a Connector on a Pipeline

This placement option allows you to place a page connector on an existing pipeline in the active drawing, then place a corresponding connector on drawing selected from the Select File to Link To list.

  1. Select Pipe Run Page connector from the Connectors gallery. The Connectors Options dialog displays.
  2. Select the New Page Connector option.
  3. Select the Connector Direction.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Enable the Select File to Link To option. This enables the pane below it, listing the available drawing files in the default directory.
  6. Select a drawing from the list or use the Browse button to navigate to a directory where your drawings are stored.
  7. Place the connector at the end of the pipeline in the active file.
Tip: Use the Snap option to make sure a proper connection is obtained.

Annotation is placed with the connector indicating the pipeline's Tag Number, Run and Size.

The target drawing is then opened.

  8. Place the corresponding connector onto the drawing.
  9. Define the connector orientation. The Connector Direction (On/Off) is placed as annotation with the connector.
  10. A message box prompts you to continue with the existing run:

If you click Yes, then you will be prompted to define the points to continue the piperun. When complete, annotation will be placed indicating the pipeline's Tag, Run, and Size.

    or

If you click No, then only the directional annotation will be placed with the connector.

Note: The Connector Direction of the two connectors are opposite of one another. (Example: If you place an Off Page connector on the first drawing, then the corresponding connector on the drawing you are linking to will be an On Page connector.)
